S. Yemen army, extremist clashes claim 15 dead

ADEN: Fifteen people, among them nine soldiers, were killed in overnight clashes as troops advanced on Zinjibar city in south Yemen, which is under the control of suspected Al-Qaeda gunmen, the military said Tuesday.

On the other hand, the possibility of President Ali Saleh not returning to Yemen has increased.

Security forces overnight battled with the militants for retrieving Zanjibar occupied since May 29.

Hospital sources said that 15 persons including 9 soldiers were killed in the clashes, while over 10 injured.

Meanwhile, Saudi Arab sources told that President Ali Saleh’s lungs have been badly affected in the earlier attack.

U.S. officials told that President Saleh had burn injuries up to 40 percent, which he received from the bomb attack in mosque and not by mortar shell or rocket and nothing could be said about President Saleh’s returning to Yemen.
